  2. AFTERGLOW - Lightsuit Segment from Sweetgrass Productions on Vimeo.

Watch the full 12 minute film Oct 19: philips.com/ambilight

Presented by Philips TV and Atomic Skis
Featuring: Pep Fujas, Eric Hjorleifson, Daron Rahlves, and Chris Benchetler

From the depth of the creative visuals to the groundbreaking, never-been-done-before scale of the shoot, Afterglow is being hailed as one of the most cinematically profound ski movies ever made. Deep pillows and Alaskan spines, all filmed at night, with massive lights, custom made LED suits, and a national governments worth of logistics, planning, and civil engineering.

Filmed as a partnership between Sweetgrass Productions, Philips TV, and the Swedish Agency Ahlstrand & Wållgren, it’s two parts creativity, one part branded content, and a pinch of masochism for good measure. Overall, it’s an incredibly unique partnership between our vision of skiing and the color and light technology behind the Philips Ambilight TV.

Supported by: Atomic, Freefly Systems (MOVI), NiteRider, Golden Alpine Holidays, Alyeska Resort & Talvista Lodge.

Shot on location at: Golden Alpine Holidays Sentry Lodge, Alyeska Resort, and the Alaskan Wilderness

  7. Gallon Drunk - The Soul Of The Hour #2 from Clouds Hill on Vimeo.

The new Gallon Drunk Album “The Soul Of The Hour” is out March 7th 2014.
Presale starts February 21th 2014 with the single-release of “The Dumb Room”
    ***

Together with new bassist Leo Kurunis, Gallon Drunk have created their most exciting, passionate and groundbreaking work to date — The Soul Of The Hour.

A howling celebration of survival and creative drive against the crushing weight of day-to-day existence, The Soul Of The Hour finds Gallon Drunk pushing ever further into previously uncharted musical territory for the band. With an emphasis firmly upon hypnotic, locked down grooves, free flowing instrumental passages and all manner of European inspirational music that courses through the band’s collective bloodstream Gallon Drunk have stretched out their music into thrilling and unfamiliar shapes. An emphasis upon a more focused, disciplined attack has fashioned a compelling musical wall of sound of considerable power, melancholy and fury. The Soul Of The Hour offers heartfelt songs of dread, sadness, love and anguish, ever reaching for the transcendent moment within the incessant race against the passage of time.

  10. Into the Hasselblad 500cm from www.carlpendle.com on Vimeo.

Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of owning a Hasselblad 500cm. I loved everything about the camera, even the square format. When I turned professional I couldn’t afford one and it didn’t suit the type of work I was doing. So I left it alone.

In August 2009 I played around with something called TTV photography, where you shoot through the viewfinder of an old vintage camera to give some cool results. I even wrote a blog about it here bit.ly/1ozv6bN At the time I also played around with creating a video through the viewfinder but just couldn’t make it work due to light issues and reflection into the top.

Then a few weeks ago I spotted an excellent film on vimeo called ‘Paris Through Pentax’ vimeo.com/104088954 by maisoncarnot.com/ It immediately went viral and became a Vimeo Staff Pick as well. They wrote a blog about the film and it showed how they cut out the reflections into the viewfinder by using a black card. This gave me the idea for this film.

I’ve taken this one step further in that I’ve actually put a film into the Hasselblad and the shots you see here are digital scans of the negative film I used. So a perfect marriage of digital and traditional film.

    Hope you enjoy it.
